Following ongoing assessments and refinement to the electrical design of Green Hill Solar Farm (the Scheme), Green Hill Solar Farm Ltd (the Applicant) has submitted an additional Change Application.

As the Scheme is undergoing Examination, the Applicant has made a Change Application to the Examining Authority appointed by the Planning Inspectorate. The Change Application was submitted to the Examining Authority on 18 February 2026.

About Green Hill Solar Farm

The Scheme comprises the construction, operation (including maintenance), and decommissioning of nine sites with solar arrays and battery energy storage systems (described as Green Hill A to G and Green Hill BESS), along with grid connection infrastructure, battery energy storage systems (referred to as BESS) and a Cable Route Corridor.

The sites are located on land within the administrative areas of West Northamptonshire Council, North Northamptonshire Council and Milton Keynes City Council. The grid connection point will be at the National Grid substation at Grendon, Northamptonshire.

As the Scheme will generate over 50 megawatts of electricity it is defined as a Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project under sections 14(1)(a) and 15(2) of the Planning Act 2008 and will therefore require a Development Consent Order (DCO). The main Application was submitted to the Planning Inspectorate in May 2025. The Examination of the Application began in October 2025 and is expected to continue until March 2026.

The decision whether to grant the Development Consent Order being made by the Secretary of State for the Department of Energy Security and Net Zero.

The Proposed Changes

The changes proposed in the additional Change Application come as a result of a detailed post-submission review of the Scheme’s electrical design. We consider that the changes are minor and do not materially change the nature of the Scheme.

We do not anticipate that the changes will have new or increased environmental impacts.
